FANTASTIC BEASTS 3 Gets an Official Title and a New Release Date
Warner Bros. has announced that the official title for the third Fantastic Beasts movie is Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. They also revealed that the long-awaited sequel has a new release date. The movie was originally supposed to be released in July of 2022, it will now be released on April 15th, 2022, so they moved the released date up a few months, which I wasn’t expecting.
It was previously reported that this sequel would put the spotlight on Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore and set more action at Hogwarts. So, it makes sense that the title would include Dumbledore’s name. The third movie will also show how magic is explored in an entirely new location: Rio de Janeiro. You can check out the logo for the film below:
The studio hired J.K. Rowling’s frequent collaborator Steve Kloves to co-write the script. He wrote seven of the eight Harry Potter movies. The studio brought him on board on hopes that “his inherent understanding of the world will help Rowling better service the fans for part three.”
Harry Potter veteran David Yates is returning to helm the new movie. Eddie Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, Jude Law portrays a young Albus Dumbledore, Mads Mikkelsen replaces Johnny Depp as the villainous Gellert Grindelwald. The cast also includes Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Dan Fogler. Jessica Williams, who briefly appeared as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks in The Crimes of Grindelwald, is expected to have a bigger role in the upcoming film.
As a longtime fans of the Harry Potter franchise, I’m looking forward to this next chapter of Fantastic Beasts.
