FANTASTIC BEASTS 3 Is Leading To a Massive War Set During WWII
The Fantastic Beasts story is leading to something big! Actor Dan Fogler, who plays fan favorite Jacob Kowalski in the film, recently talked to SyFy Wire about the movie, saying the cast can’t wait to return to start shooting the film. As you know, film productions are on hold at the moment, so right now they are “just waiting” for production to begin again.
Fogler also said that the upcoming film is “leading towards this massive war with the backdrop of World War II, so you can just imagine epic battle scenes are coming.”
A war involving magic during World War II!? That sounds like it could be pretty damn awesome! The visuals of that could be stunning. I haven’t really been that excited for this third film in the franchise but this little bit of information gives me something to look forward too.
We previously learned that the story will put the spotlight on Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore and set more action at Hogwarts. The third movie will also show how magic is explored in an entirely new location… Rio de Janeiro.
A lot of fans didn’t care for the last film that was released, The Crimes of Grindelwald, so to help recapture the heart and spirit of the original Harry Potter franchise, WB hired J.K. Rowling’s frequent collaborator Steve Kloves to co-write the script. He wrote seven of the eight Harry Potter movies. Sources say “his inherent understanding of the world will help Rowling better service the fans for part three.”
We also know that the story will lead to a confrontation between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, who is played by Johnny Depp. Grindelwald’s defeat at the hands of Dumbledore in 1945 became the stuff of legend amongst the witches and wizards of that universe.
Five films total have been planned for Fantastic Beasts and it’ll be interesting to see how the rest of this story plays out. Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently set to hit theatres in November 2021.
