Fantastic First Trailer For The Incredible True Crime Heist Film AMERICAN ANIMALS
The first trailer has been released for the incredible heist film American Animals! I had the opportunity to watch this movie at Sundance earlier this year and it was my favorite movie from the festival. I think audiences are going to love this film! The movie tells a true story of four friends who attempt to plan and execute one of the most audacious art heists in U.S. history.
I absolutely loved the originality and uniqueness of this movie and the trailer for it was crafted so well! I'm so happy to see that this movie ended up getting a great trailer which I hope sells you on watching this movie. I love how it escalates to the point of where we see stars Evan Peters, Barry Keoghan, Blake Jenner, and Jared Abrahamson all decked out as old men and ready to execute the heist they've planned. Here's the synopsis:
Centering on unpredictable wild child Warren (Evan Peters) and aspiring artist Spencer (Barry Keoghan), two friends from the middle-class suburbs of Lexington, Kentucky, the film follows the duo through college life at separate universities, as adult pressures begin to weigh heavily on their futures. Realizing their lives may never be important, they organize the brazen theft of some valuable books from the special collections library of Spencer’s college, including Audubon’s Birds of America, valued at $10 million. Enlisting two more friends, budding accountant Eric (Jared Abrahamson) and fitness fanatic Chas (Barry Jenner), the gang meticulously plots the theft and subsequent fence of the stolen volumes, taking cues from popular heist movies. But the thieves’ plans go awry, placing their bright futures in limbo.
Unfolding from multiple perspectives, and shifting between the fictionalized central narrative and documentary-style interviews with the real-life figures on which the story is based, writer-directed Bart Layton (The Imposter) elevates the heist movie to bold and thrilling new heights.
Here's what we had to say about the film in our review:
Combining interviews with the real people involved and dramatic (and maybe not completely accurate) re-creation of the actual event, American Animals is captivating from start to finish. The use of light-hearted banter makes you feel like you are right there hanging out with the guys as they plan the heist, but as their scheme becomes a reality, the humor and fun ebbs away as the severity of what they're doing and their obvious lack of skill sets in. Their plan is so bizarre, it includes them not only robbing the library in the middle of the day, but doing so dressed ridiculously as old men.
I loved the originality of this film. Sometimes, the actors interact with the real people they’re portraying, other times the characters’ lines overlap poetically with the interviews. The acting is so terrific, and the interviews are so well crafted, it makes the whole thing feel incredibly real without being preachy, like some documentaries tend to be. This one is definitely not to be missed.
American Animals arrives in theaters on June 1, 2018. Don't miss it!
