Fantastic Trailer For The Stop-Motion Animated Film MEMOIR OF A SNAIL

Madman Films has released a trailer for a fantastic-looking stop-motion animated film titled Memoir of a Snail.

The film is described as “a poignant, heartfelt and hilarious chronicle of the life of an outsider finding her confidence and silver linings amongst the clutter of everyday life.”

Set in 1970s Australia, “Grace’s life is troubled by misfortune & loss. After their mom dies during pregnancy, she and her twin brother, Gilbert, are raised by their paraplegic-alcoholic former juggler father, Percy. Despite a life filled with love, tragedy strikes when Percy passes away in his sleep. The siblings are separated and thrust into different homes to grow up.

"Grace Pudel is a lonely misfit with an affinity for collecting ornamental snails and an intense love for books. At a young age, when Grace is separated from her fire-breathing twin brother Gilbert, she falls into a spiral of anxiety and angst. Despite a continued series of hardships, inspiration and hope emerge when she strikes up an enduring friendship with an elderly eccentric woman named Pinky, who is full of grit and lust for life.”

The movie was directed by Australian animation filmmaker Adam Elliot, who won an Oscar in 2004 for his short Harvie Krumpet. He also made the stop-motion film Mary and Max.

The voice cast includes Jacki Weaver, Eric Bana, Sarah Snook, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Dominique Pinon, Magda Szubanski, with Nick Cave.

The movie will be released in Australia in October later this year. No US release has been announced.
