While we don’t know much about Lucasfilm’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, we now know that Fast and Furious actor Sung Kang will be wielding a Lightsaber in the series! The actor shared this bit of info during a recent interview with Ash Crossan when he was talking about the series. You can watch the video below, but this is what he said:

"I used to dress up in the cheap K-Mart, plastic Halloween costumes, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Almost every single day from 8 to 13 years old, my friend and I would play pretend. We would make our own lightsabers out of toilet paper centers and stuff like that, and paper towel cardboard.

“To be able to be on set, and see Darth Vader, and see the Star Wars universe in front of me. Just as a fan, to be able to be part of that history is pretty amazing. I kept pinching myself to go, 'How did I end up here?' My character has a lightsaber. To go, 'It's not a toy.' Right? It's the real thing."

Other than that we know nothing about Kang’s character. The fact that he’s wielding a Lightsaber, though, means that he could either be a Jedi. a Sith, or just some guy who happens to have a Lightsaber. It seems like he’ll be spending some time with Darth Vader… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see!

The story for the Kenobi series begins 10 years after the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord, Darth Vader.

Obi-Wan Kenobi also stars Hayden Christensen, who is also set to return as Darth Vader. The series also stars Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru. The rest of the cast includes Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Deborah Chow (Better Call Saul, American Gods, The Mandalorian) will direct the series as well as serve as showrunner, with Hossein Amini (Drive, McMafia) and Joby Harold (John Wick 3, Awake, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) writing.
