Female-Led DOOGIE HOWSER, M.D. Reboot DOOGIE KAMEALOHA, M.D. Ordered to Series at Disney+
The female-led reboot of the great ‘90s series Doogie Howser M.D. has gotten picked up by Disney+, and is going by the name Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.. The series “will focus on Lahela “Doogie” Kameāloha, a mixed race 16-year-old girl who works as a doctor in Hawaii.” I have no idea how the beautiful name Lahela gets turned into the less feminine and less cute nickname “Doogie,” but I guess we will find out. Maybe she is living in our universe, where her parents watched Doogie Howser M.D. growing up, and the fact that she went to medical school as a teenager got her the nickname. That would make sense.
The reboot is being written by Kourtney Kang, who will executive produce alongside Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar, who she worked with on Fresh Off The Boat, as well as Dayna and Jesse Bochco.
I think this is a great premise, and I really enjoyed it the first time around, so I bet this will be a great show. That’s all the info we have for now, but we will keep you posted. Do you think you’ll want to check it out?
