FilmQuest 2024 Launches This Week! It's One of the Coolest Film Festivals To Attend

FilmQuest, one of the largest genre festivals in the world and one of MovieMaker Magazine’s “25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” in 2024, begins its 11th season, in Downtown Provo this week and runs ten full days from October 24th - November 2nd. 

The festival is headlined with projects from and featuring Ed Harris, Joel McHale, Felicia Day, Doug Jones, Barbara Crampton, Tony Todd, Tobin Bell, Patricia Heaton, Cristo Fernández, Donal Logue, Peter Stormare, Katie Parker, Danny Trejo, and more throughout the over 300 films showcased at FilmQuest this season, which includes feature films and short films from 30 nations showcasing the industry’s hottest and best up-and-coming genre filmmaking talent.

“Each year, in the heart of Utah, FilmQuest continues to defy expectations and turn heads throughout the film industry as it has firmly established itself as one of the world’s great genre film festivals” said Festival Founder & Director Jonathan Martin.

“The festival has become a landmark event centered in one of the most unlikely of places, and it shouldn’t be missed by anyone who loves cinema or has aspirations of a career in the film industry.

Among the many highlights from a program rich with female filmmakers includes the World Premiere of the highly anticipated feature debut from Joanna Tsanis The Killgrin, the sci-fi comedy from Stimson Snead Tim Travers and the Time Traveler’s ParadoxAngela Gulner’s supernatural thriller The Beldham, the epic animated feature film animated entirely by one person, The Worlds Divide, the cosmic horror film The Dæmon, Racheal Cain’s mind-bending sci-fi experience Somnium, and the Tony Todd and Tobin Bell starring alien invasion film The Bunker.

Labs and Workshops from distributors, podcasters, and established industry veterans, including a lab from Kathryn Lyn, a Hugo Award nominated writer and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds writer and producer.

The event will conclude with an audiovisual awards show on November 2nd with the presentation of the coveted Cthulhu Trophy to winners in feature film, short film, student film, animation, and music video categories.
