Finn Wolfhard Says He Was "Satisfied," but "Confused" by His STRANGER THINGS Ending - "None of It Felt Real"

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is finally making its debut on Netflix later this year, and its stars are starting to speak up about wrapping on the show they’ve been shooting for the last decade, nearly half their lives. Finn Wolfhard, who played Mike Wheeler in the Duffer Brothers-created show, explained to People that the show’s ending left him “satisfied” and “confused,” among other emotions.

“I was so happy with his ending, and I don’t know, I was satisfied, but I was also very confused and sad, but also very happy,” adding that the experience filming the finale “was definitely a lot,” he explained. “I felt like I was in a dream or something. None of it felt real. I don’t know, it felt perfect,” added Wolfhard.

Now 22, Wolfhard was 13 when he began playing Mike on Stranger Things, which debuted in 2016. He’s since grown up onscreen with co-stars Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink.

Reflecting on the finale, Wolfhard said he “just couldn’t believe it at all,” adding: “It didn’t really start to go into focus until the next day. It was like an emotional hangover. But it ended really well, and I just have such positive things to say about everyone.”

While teasing the final season in January, co-creator and executive producer Ross Duffer said, “We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies.”

“We think it’s our most personal story,” added Matt Duffer. “It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was SO much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen.”

The first six episodes of season 5 are rumored to drop on October 10, 2025, and the last two episodes on November 27, 2025, according to Digit.in and The Economic Times. While not officially confirmed by Netflix, these dates align with production delays and the series' typical split release model, similar to Season 4. But we will just have to wait and see. I assume we will hear confirmation soon.
