FIREBALL Is a New DUNGEONS & DRAGONS App to Help More Players Connect and Game

Dungeons & Dragons is only becoming more and more popular as time goes on. However, there are problems with trying to get games going. It can be very intimidating to learn all of the rules and it can also be a giant pain to schedule a group. People are getting busier and busier. However, there’s a new app trying to help gamers enjoy the game called Fireball.

Fireball is being developed by a small team who saw the aforementioned problems as well as the need to sometimes find new friends to play D&D with and got to work. The app will use the SRD content under the Open Gaming License (OGL) to keep the app free for everyone. This does introduce a lot of limitations, but maybe in the future they can work on expanding it. The app will allow you to create characters and run D&D sessions all in the app. It allows for real time sessions, or even sessions via chat that allow people to respond when they have a minute.

In the app, you’ll be able to invite your friends into sessions, or even find new friends based on what kinds of co-players you enjoy. Are you a combat lover? Is role-playing your thing? Find like-minded individuals to play with. If you’re a character, you’ll be able to set your race, class, and more.

DMs will have the ability to manage NPCs, maps, items, HP, and a lot more. Plus, they’ll be able to whisper to selected characters for all of those juicy secrets you learned for rolling that 25 Perception check. In Fireball, there will be ready-made adventures that you can use as your location with some options able to be edited.

In addition to fun art that can be used for maps, NPCs, and even playable characters, Fireball will feature a “vast music and sound library to enhance the playing experience.” I will say that adding a soundtrack to your game is something I would recommend if you don’t already do it.

One of the big pulls to Fireball is the fact that it aims to automate a lot of the rules. This is a pretty big thing for many people that I’ve talked to. I know there are other platforms that do similar things, but they often tend to be pretty costly compared to Fireball, so it may be worth checking it out here first.

At this time, Fireball doesn’t plan on allowing homebrew content as they want the app to “stay graphically unified and consistent.” That being said, they have a Discord channel that you can join and submit requests and ideas as well as get to know the community.

You can back the Kickstarter now for as little as $2 with a wide variety of rewards available including early access, item/monster creation with one of the team’s artists, character badges, and more.
