FIREFLY 15th Anniversary Video Features New Footage of The Serenity From The Original VFX Team
Can you believe that it's been 15 years since Joss Whedon's sci-fi western cult classic series Firefly launched!? To celebrate the 15 year anniversary, the original VFX house behind the series, Zoic Studios, released a tribute video for the fans that gives us a look back at the series. It also contains the first brand new footage of Serenity in flight since 2005! It's pretty awesome.
In honor of the 15th anniversary of Joss Whedon’s cult sci-fi favorite “Firefly,” we've launched a reel that celebrates the epic journey of Serenity and its valiant crew. The compilation highlights some of the best VFX work on the beloved show, which launched Zoic in 2002 and earned an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Visual Effects for a Series.” We dug into the archives to create this commemorative reel, rebuilding Serenity with the original team and put together a shiny new sequence followed by an assembly of some of the most beloved and quotable moments of the franchise.
That show was just ahead of its time. It's a shame that it didn't last longer. There are so many untold stories for these characters. At this point, I doubt we'll ever see a series revival and I seriously want one after watching this video! Luckily, fans are at least getting a book series from Joss Whedon to tell some new Firefly stories.
