First Cast Photo For The VERONICA MARS Revival and Clifton Collins Jr. and Izabela Vidovic Join The Cast

The first cast photo has been revealed for the Veronica Mars revival series coming to Hulu. The The features creator Rob Thomas, Kristen Bell, Percy Daggs III, Daran Norris, Jason Dohring, Dawnn Lewis, Patton Oswalt, Enrico Colantoni, and David Starzyk.

The photo also features the latest cast additions Clifton Collins Jr. and Izabela Vidovic. We have some details on these characters for you below.

Clifton Collins Jr. will play Alonzo who is a hitman for a Mexican cartel. Deadline describes his character thusly:

Because of his facility with English, he’s chosen by his boss to travel to Neptune to take out whoever killed his wife’s nephew. The more time Alonzo spends in the U.S. the more doubts creep in about his chosen career field, particularly when he falls hard for a local girl.

The other name joining the show is Izabela Vidovic who will be Matty Ross.

When teenaged Matty Ross loses the most important person in the world to her in an act of violence, she isn’t content to wait for justice. She goes after it herself in acts so brazen, they remind Veronica of the girl she used to be.

Sounds like these could be two very interesting characters. Due to the description of Matty, it sounds like she could become Veronica’s protégé or something.

Veronica’s next adventure will revolve around spring breakers who are being murdered in Neptune, “thereby decimating the seaside town’s lifeblood tourist industry. After Mars Investigations is hired by the parents of one of the victims to find their son’s killer, Veronica is drawn into a mystery that pits the enclave’s wealthy elites, who would rather put an end to the month-long bacchanalia, against a working class that relies on the cash influx that comes with being the West Coast’s answer to Daytona Beach.”

Thomas is writing the first episode and when previously talking about the revival, Bell warned fans that it’s going to be much darker than they’re used to.

"It's going to be a much darker world. It's going to be a bigger world. It's definitely not going to be what we did on UPN or The CW, so I want to brace fans for that. That it's going to be darker and bigger and more cinematic and definitely a little bit different."

The series revival will consist of eight episodes. We don’t know when it will be released yet, but it’ll be great to see Mars dig into another investigation.

What do you think? The eight-episode revival is set to premiere in 2019.
