First Details Revealed For DC's Joker and Harley Quinn Movie Which Will Have a BAD SANTA Meets THIS IS US Tone

Last week was filled with all kinds of news about Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker movie and we even got our first look at the actor in clown make-up. But there are a couple other Joker movies in development at Warner Bros. as well and that include a Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff movie.

That film is being written by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (Bad Santa) and according to Metro they just turned int the script for the film to the studio. While talking to the outlet they said they had a blast writing the script and even offered up some story details. Ficarra said:

"It is great. The whole thing starts with Harley kidnapping Dr Phil. Played by Dr Phil hopefully. Because her and the Joker are having problems with their relationship. We had so much fun, I don’t know if we have had more fun writing a script in our career."

That certainly sounds like a fun opening! It seems like maybe they are going all out with a Deadpool level of craziness. The go on to say that that the movie combines the tone of Bad Santa and the NBC drama This is Us, which they’ve also worked on.

"It was sort of like, we wrote Bad Santa a couple of years ago, and it was that sensibility mixed with our This Is Us sensibility. We kind of meshed them together. We were doing a relationship movie but with the sensibility of a Bad Santa, fucked up, mentally deranged people. It was a lot of fun."

Sounds like it could be interesting, but who know when or if DC and WB will ever get around to developing it. They explain that they don’t know where it is on the queue of DC movies, and adds:

"We handed the script in and everybody loved it. But I don’t know when they are going to do it. Because I know that they want to do Birds Of Prey and they want to do Todd [Phillips]’s Joker film first. Maybe if Birds Of Prey goes well ours will be next."

I’m definitely intrigued by what they had to say about this Joker and Harley movie, but only time will tell if it actually turns out good or not. What do you think about what they revealed about the movie?
