First Footage Revealed in Sneak Peek For Stephen King's New Series MR. MERCEDES

Today we get our first real look at the upcoming new Stephen King series Mr. Mercedes. Thanks to USA Today we have a sneak peek that shows off footage from the series as well as features interviews with director/producer Jack Bender (Lost, Under the Dome), David E. Kelly (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Boston Legal), and King himself talking about what they are doing to bring this story to life. Bender says that it gets "pretty dark and out there," which is what I love about King's work.

The series stars Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful’s Dr. Frankenstein) in the role of a crazed serial killer named Brady Hartsfield, and Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter) as detective Bill Hodges, who comes out of retirement to stop him. Here's the synopsis:

Based on Stephen King’s 2014 book, 'Mr. Mercedes' follows demented killer Brady Hartsfield (Treadaway), who taunts a retired police detective Bill Hodges (Gleeson) with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he is able to strike again.

Mr. Mercedes also stars Kelly Lynch, Mary-Louise Parker, Holland Taylor, Jharrel Jerome and Justine Lupe. When talking about the series and why people will tune in to watch Kelly says:

“People will come to Mr. Mercedes for the thrills that Stephen King so readily offers and they will stay for the richness and characters.”

I really hope that they pull this series off. It looks like it could be great! The series is set to air on August 9th on the AT&T Audience Network, which is available to DirecTV subscribers. I've also included four new images from the series that were released.
