The first trailer has been released for the Starz series adaptation of Blindspotting, based on the 2018 movie. The film stars Jasmine Cephas Jones returning to the role of Ashley, who is facing raising her son alone after her boyfriend Miles (returning star Rafael Casal) goes to prison. She turns to Miles’s mother Rainey (Helen Hunt) to help her out. Her son Ziggy is played by returning star Ziggy Baitinger, and Daveed Diggs returns to the cast as Collin.

Andrew Chappelle (Escape at Dannemora, The Tick) and April Absynth (Lumpia with a Vengeance) join the series as newcomers.

The Blindspotting series picks up six months after the film and centers on Ashley, who is nipping at the heels of a middle-class life in Oakland until Miles, her partner of 12 years and father of their son, is suddenly incarcerated, leaving her to navigate a chaotic and humorous existential crisis when she is forced to move in with Miles’ mother and half-sister.

The series is being written by Diggs and Casal, with Casal serving as showrunner. The series will be making its world premiere on June 11 at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival, which will then be followed by its debut on June 13 across all Starz platforms in the U.S. and Canada.
