Haunting First Trailer for Documentary Adaptation of Golden State Killer True Crime Novel I'LL BE GONE IN THE DARK

We have the first trailer for the documentary adaptation of the true crime novel, I’ll Be Gone In The Dark. This book was the life’s work of the late Michelle McNamara, crime blogger and creator of TrueCrimeDiary.

She put her obsession into the then unsolved case of the Golden State Killer, a term she coined after coming across the fact that he was the serial rapist and murderer who had been known as the East Area Rapist, the Original Nightstalker, and other names throughout California, and created this bestselling book from her research. She unfortunately passed away in 2016 while writing, but the book was finished by her colleagues and husband, comedian Patton Oswald, and was ultimately released posthumously in February of 2018.

Two months after its release, and eight weeks into the book’s New York Times Bestseller List reign, Joseph James DeAngelo, the Golden State Killer, was arrested, and many say her research contributed to his capture. Now HBO is releasing their documentary based on the serial killer and the creation of McNamara’s novel.

Check out the trailer below, and all murderinos can watch I’ll Be Gone In The Dark on HBO and HBO Max on June 28th.
