First Image From The OMEN Prequel Film THE FIRST OMEN and 2024 Release Date Announced
20th Century Studios has shared a first-look photo from its upcoming psychological horror thriller The First Omen. This film will serve as a prequel to the classic 1976 Richard Donner movie. It was also announced that the movie will open in theaters on April 5, 2024.
In the film, “When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.”
The First Omen stars Nell Tiger Free (Servant), Tawfeek Barhom (Mary Magdalene), Sonia Braga (Kiss of the Spider Woman), Ralph Ineson (The Witch, Onyx the Fortuitous), and Bill Nighy (Living).
The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, with a story by Ben Jacoby (Bleed) and a screenplay by Tim Smith and Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (Firestarter).
The movie revolves around the ominous events surrounding the birth of Damien Thorn. As the American ambassador to England, Robert Thorn, played by Gregory Peck, and his wife Katherine, played by Lee Remick, adopt the seemingly innocent Damien after the tragic death of their own child. However, as Damien grows older, disturbing occurrences and a series of mysterious deaths unfold, leading Robert to investigate the sinister truth behind his adopted son's origin. With its atmospheric tension, chilling soundtrack, and memorable performances, The Omen has become a landmark in the horror genre.
That film spawned three sequels, including 1978’s Damien: Omen II and 1981’s The Final Conflict, as well as the 2006 reboot. There was also a short-lived Damien television series.
David S. Goyer (Man of Steel, Batman Begins) produced the film along with Keith Levine (The Night House).
