First Images For CRYSTAL LAKE, The FRIDAY THE 13th Prequel Coming To Peacock

There’s something fitting about getting our first look at Crystal Lake on Friday the 13th. The upcoming TV series expands the legendary horror franchise in a new direction, and now fans finally have their first glimpse at what this eerie return to Camp Crystal Lake will look like.

Produced by A24 and developed by showrunner Brad Caleb Kane (IT: Welcome to Derry), Crystal Lake is a prequel story set in the world of Friday the 13th. The series will premiere on Peacock later this year and aims to explore the tragic beginnings of the franchise’s most infamous legend.

At the center of the story is Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini. The character is known to horror fans as the original killer from the 1980 film, but the series digs into who she was before the bloodshed.

In Crystal Lake, Pamela is portrayed as a mother who once dreamed of a singing career but set those ambitions aside to care for her special needs son, Jason. When tragedy strikes and she loses him, her life spirals down a far darker path.

Young Jason Voorhees will be played by Callum Vinson (Chucky), offering audiences an early look at the character long before the hockey mask and machete turned him into a horror icon.

The show also features a solid ensemble cast including William Catlett (Abigail), Cameron Scoggins (Nashville), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.

They’re joined by Nick Cordileone (Warrior), Joy Suprano (Fleishman Is in Trouble), Danielle Kotch (Sinister), Christopher Denham (Shining Girls), Nancy Nagrant (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), and Phoenix Parnevik.

The eight-episode series will be directed by Michael Lennox (Derry Girls), Celine Held and Logan George (Caddo Lake), along with Quyen Tran (The Pitt).

Kane previously explained the tone of the series, saying: “It’s a paranoid ’70s thriller. It has all of the DNA of a slasher without quite being a slasher. There are rivers of blood in the show. There are very, I think, ingenious kill sequences and deaths and murders, but it’s all done in service of character and theme and place and time.”

The timing of this reveal is perfect, and the calendar might offer another opportunity for a fun launch window. 2026 still has one more Friday the 13th coming up in November, which could make a pretty great date for either the premiere or the finale of Crystal Lake.
