First Impressions Of New Comdey HEADLESS: A SLEEPY HOLLOW STORY

Shipwrecked Comedy has launched their newest dark comedy series Headless: A Sleepy Hollow Story. Starring Sean Persaud, Mary Kate Wiles, Sinead Persaud, Joanna Sotomura, Curt Mega, Krystina Arielle, Parvesh Cheena, Kim Whalen, John Rubinstein, and a long list of guest stars including Matthew Mercer, Jimmy Wong, Lee Newton, Laruen Lopez, Dan Mintz, Audrey Grace Marshall, and Julia Cho. I had the chance to see the first three episodes of what will be a ten episode series. So here are my thoughts on the series so far.

The original The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is an iconic story to take on. I remember watching the animated film as a child and being almost as scared as Ichabod Crane of the Headless Horseman. In this new retelling Ichabod teams up with the Horseman to help him find his head. I don’t want to give too much away, but the two of them play really well off each other. This is a comedy, so having Ichabod try to help this guy while at the same time keeping him hidden from others in town has been fun. The show, while still good, was a little slow for me until the guest stars started making their appearances. Don’t get me wrong, the core cast is great, I especially loved Matilda and Brom, but the guests are going to add such a unique flavor for each episode they will be in. I can't wait to see more of them. I am also enjoying the new look at the classic characters, especially Katrina. In the original there really isn’t much to her character besides being a prize to be won by Brom and Ichabod. In this version however, we get the sense of depth to her character that should be exciting to see more of.

Overall, I’ve been enjoying the show so far. Episode one is out now to watch on Shipwrecked’s YouTube channel. with new episodes releasing every Monday. If episode one hasn’t hooked you yet I recommend giving it a few more episodes. As we enter Fall and Halloween season, this will be the perfect show to help you kick off the season.
