First Impressions: THE GOD OF HIGH SCHOOL Is a Fun Anime to Watch

The God of High School is finally here. The first episode of the Webtoon comic turned Crunchyroll Original anime is available on Crunchyroll now, and I gave it a watch. I really enjoyed it. Something about it reminded me of a mix of Bleach and One Punch Man with a tournament arc feel of Yu Yu Hakusho and Dragon Ball. If you’re a fan of fighting anime, you’ll definitely want to check it out although it should be noted that there is no dub version at this time.

The first episode was action-packed, but that did leave me asking a lot of questions, particularly about the world. I’m hopeful that more is explained about the world itself in the near future and the first episode was just action-packed to draw in viewers. I liked the animation, the character interactions, and even the personalities of the three main characters. I also appreciated the fact that it looks like Webtoon and Crunchyroll are sponsoring the competition in the anime.

I do wonder how crazy strong Jin Mori is though where he can pedal a bike as fast as a motorcycle and pedal a bike to break a road barrier. I did really like the chase scene though and the introductions of Han Daewi and Yoo Mira. The writing is really engaging so far even if we know nothing about the world other than there’s a mixed martial arts competition that happens every so often.

I think The God of High School will see a lot of success even if I’m not sure that I’ll keep up with it until it’s dubbed. One of my big questions is why Jin has those crosses in his eyes. I think it has to do with some magic or supernatural power that just hasn’t been explained yet.

What do you think of The God of High School?
