First Look at Another Mickey Mouse Horror Movie: MOUSEBOAT MASSACRE
We’ve got a first look at another one of those Mickey Mouse horror movies being made, and this one is titled Mouseboat Massacre.
The movie is inspired by Walt Disney’s classic 1928 animated short film Steamboat Willie, which is now officially in the public domain. Because of that, several horror filmmakers have stepped in to reimagine the iconic mouse as a slasher maniac, and all of their films look awful.
The movie comes from director Andrea M. Catinella, who says: “Mouseboat Massacre paints a terrifying and unsettling picture. A slasher horror film that takes a beloved childhood icon and twists it into something nightmarish.
“The juxtaposition of something so innocent with a dark, psychotic twist is a brilliant way to tap into deep-seated fears and nostalgia gone wrong.”
I wouldn’t go as far as to call it “brilliant” because it’s really a tired horror movie trope. This one just involves Mickey Mouse.
The story follows “a young woman battling a drug addiction who suddenly begins to see a mutated mouse human hybrid who infests her life. Those around her begin to drop like flies.”
The director goes on to say: “With Mouseboat Massacre, the most beloved childhood character becomes an endless nightmare. This film is a psychotic journey where the audience won’t have a moment to catch their breath.
“Imagine Pennywise wearing the most famous rat mask, unleashing chaos in an atmosphere thick with eerie, unsettling tension. After watching Mouseboat Massacre, those iconic ears will never feel the same. The aim is to make sure that what once brought comfort will now haunt your dreams.”
When I first read that it was followed by a hard eye-roll and a laugh because it’s so ridiculous.
Anyway, the movie stars Jay Robertson, Kathi DeCouto, Atlanta Moreno, Lauren Leppard, Victor Rios, and Natasha Tosini star in the upcoming Mouseboat Massacre, and it will be released by ITN Studios.
