First Look at Darth Vader From Lucasfilm's OBI-WAN KENOBI Series
Yesterday the first teaser trailer dropped for the upcoming live-action Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi. This trailer managed to get a lot of fans excited for the franchise, including fans that trashing on the idea of a Kenobi series. The show seriously looks great!
There was one character I was hoping to see in the trailer that didn’t show up. That character is Darth Vader, who will once again be played by Hayden Christensen. Well, we do have a first look at the Sith Lord thanks to a photo shared by Entertainment Weekly.
In the image, we see Vader emerging from his meditation chamber. I’m sure at some point we will see Vader with his helmet off, but when asked about it in an interview with EW, Christensen said, "I wish I could tell you. I'm sworn to secrecy."
However, Christensen did add that we are “going to see a very powerful Vader” in the series, so that should be fun to see. When talking about how much of Vader we’ll actually see in the series writer Joby Harold teased, "His shadow is cast across so much of what we do. And the degree of his proximity to that shadow is something that we'll discover. But he is very much a part of the show emotionally for Obi-Wan, and possibly beyond that as well."
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series also stars Ewan McGregor, reprising his role as the iconic Jedi Master, along with Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will drop on Disney+ on May 25th!
