First Look at HBO’s HARRY POTTER Series Reveals Harry Stepping Into the Wizarding World

The Wizarding World is officially opening its doors again, and this time it’s headed to the small screen. HBO has shared the first image from its upcoming Harry Potter series, giving fans their first glimpse at a reimagined Hogwarts and the young wizard at the center of it all.

The photo keeps things simple but effective. We see Harry from behind, played by Dominic McLaughlin, walking toward the Quidditch pitch.

He’s wrapped in a red-and-gold Gryffindor cloak, complete with his last name and player number stitched on the back. Ahead of him, a crowd of students pours into the pitch, surrounded by waving house flags for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.

It’s a familiar setting, but there’s a new texture to it that hints at a fresh take on the iconic school.

This version of Hogwarts comes from production designer Mara LePere-Schloop, whose previous work on Interview With the Vampire and Pachinko suggests we’re in for something visually rich and thoughtfully crafted.

The show is currently filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., the same legendary location tied to the original films. But this isn’t a retread. HBO’s adaptation is diving back into the source material from J.K. Rowling with a long-form storytelling approach that gives the books room to breathe.

Joining McLaughlin is a cast packed with intriguing choices. Alastair Stout steps into the role of Ron Weasley, while Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger.

The Hogwarts faculty includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.

Guiding the series are showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, with Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman executive producing.

The story will follow Harry’s journey as he learns he’s a wizard, leaves behind his Muggle life, and steps into a world filled with magic, friendship, and danger. Along the way, he’ll meet Ron and Hermione and eventually face off against the dark force of Lord Voldemort.

It’s still early, but this first look sets the tone. Hogwarts feels alive again the image is sure to spark curiosity. Fans have been waiting to see how this new adaptation would shape up, and now we’ve got our first hint.
