First Look at Matt Groening’s Animated Fantasy Netflix Series DISENCHANTMENT
Last year Netflix announced that The Simpsons creator Matt Groening would be developing a new animated adult fantasy series for them called Disenchantment. Now today we have our first look at the series to share with you! But first, here's the synopsis:
In Disenchantment, viewers will be whisked away to the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, where they will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean, her feisty elf companion Elfo, and her personal demon Luci. Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools.
These images show us what the world will look like and a few of the characters that will fill it, including princess Bean, her feisty elf, and her little demon pet Luci. As you can see, this was very much created in Groening's signature style. The creator had this to say in a statement:
“Ultimately, disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and wizards and other jerks tell you.”
The series will feature the voice talents of Abbi Jacobson as Bean, Nat Faxon as Elfo, and Eric Andre as Luci, along with John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding, and Lucy Montgomery.
The animation is being developed at Rough Draft Studios (Futurama) and it will premiere on Netflix ten episodes at a time, starting in 2018. I can't want to see a trailer for this! It looks and sounds like it will be a great series!
