First Look Images For Netflix's New ONE PIECE Anime Series
Netflix is developing an all-new anime series adaption of Eiichiro Oda’s The One Piece. The project is described as “a new anime adaptation starting from the iconic East Blue saga” and today we have a first look at the animation style of a few characters including Monkey D. Luffy.
As you will see, the style if very different than anything we’ve seen before with the franchise. The new series is being produced by WIT Studio, which is known for their work on hit anime such as SPY x FAMILY and Attack on Titan, in partnership with Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co.
The design and style that they’ve come up with has a certain softness to it that sets it apart from the original, on going anime series.
The One Piece’s production committee — made up of Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co. representatives, which says that The One Piece “will be distinct from the TV anime series,” making for a “fresh yet familiar experience, utilizing cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy’s adventures through the beloved East Blue saga.”
One Piece is set in a fantasy world and follows the fantastical adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search for the ultimate treasure ‘One Piece’ to become the next Pirate King. There’s no release date set for this project yet.
