First Look at Squirrel Girl From Marvel's Canceled NEW WARRIORS Series
A few years ago Marvel was developing a New Warriors series that actually sounded very promising. The series was being developed for Freeform, but it ended up being canceled.
Marvel screened the pilot episode for test audiences in 2017 and it reportedly tested through the roof! Audiences were loving it, Marvel was excited about it, so it’s kinda crazy that the project didn’t move forward. It’s a shame, I think this could have been a fun show!
Marvel’s New Warriors was about “six young people with powers living and working together. With powers and abilities on the opposite end of the spectrum of the Avengers, the New Warriors want to make a difference in the world … even if the world isn’t ready. Not quite super, not yet heroes, Marvel’s New Warriors is about that time in your life when you first enter adulthood and feel like you can do everything and nothing at once – except in this world, bad guys can be as terrifying as bad dates.”
The New Warriors stars Milana Vayntrub (This Is Us) as Squirrel Girl; Derek Theler (Baby Daddy) as Mister Immortal; Jeremy Tardy (Dear White People) as Night Thrasher; Calum Worthy (Austin and Ally) as Speedball; Matthew Moy (Two Broke Girls) as Microbe; Kate Comer as Debrii and Keith David as Ernest Vigman.
Series creator Kevin Biegel recently took to Twitter to share a behind-the-scenes look at the costume for Doreen Green / Squirrel Girl (Vayntrub) for the series, as well as a couple of videos showing off the practical effects that would've been used for her squirrel sidekick, Tippy-Toe. However, those video have been removed. You can check out the photos below, though!
