First Look at WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD AND HONEY a Twisted Horror Film Inspired by the Beloved Character
A.A. Milne’s classic beloved character Winnie the Pooh has slipped into the public domain, which means now, all kinds of weird and crazy things can happen with the character, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Yep, this is a twisted new horror film inspired by Winnie the Pooh, and we have a first look to share with you thanks to some photos that have been released.
Rhys Frake-Waterfield directed the film, and it looks quite disturbing. It’s not really how you’d want to envision Pooh and his friends, but here we are. When talking about the story the director shared with Variety:
“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will see Pooh and Piglet as the main villains…going on a rampage after being abandoned by a college-bound Christopher Robin. Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult.
“Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”
When talking about one of the photos below showing a girl relaxing in a jacuzzi with Pooh and Piglet ominously standing behind her he explains:
“She’s having a good time and then Pooh and Piglet appear behind her, chloroform her, take her out of the jacuzzi and then kind of drive a car over her head. It’s scary but there’s also funny bits because there’s shots of Winnie the Pooh in a car and seeing him with his little ears behind the wheel and like slowly going over there [to kill her.]”
The movie was shot over the course of 10 days in England, not far from Ashdown Forest, which is the inspiration for Milne’s imaginary Hundred Acre Wood in the Winnie the Pooh stories.
The movie stars Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott. I’ll be keeping my eye on this one. It looks like it’s gonna be weird, and no one is going to mistake this for the Disney version of the character.
