First Look Photos of Chadwick Boseman's Final Film, MA RAINEY'S BLACK BOTTOM

Netflix has released the first look photos for their upcoming film Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is the film in which Chadwick Boseman (42, Black Panther) gave his final performance. The actor passed away in August at the age of 43 after battling cancer, and while he had several other films scheduled, this was the final movie he was able to shoot and finalize.

Boseman stars in the film alongside Viola Davis, who plays Ma Rainey in the film, based on the August Wilson play of the same name. Boseman plays “Ma’s boyfriend Levee, a young, ambitious trumpeter who aspired to make his own mark in the music industry.”

Here’s the synopsis:

The film follows the story of trailblazing blues singer Ma Rainey, portrayed by Davis. Set in 1927 Chicago, the movie grapples with issues of race, music, relationships and the exploitation of Black recording artists.
