First MAXXXINE Reactions Hit and It's Described as a "80s Horror Take on ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD"
The first reactions have been shared for director Ti West and Mia Goth’s upcoming horror film MaXXXine, the third film in a horror trilogy that also includes the films X and Pearl.
The reactions I’ve seen for it so far have been positive and it’s described as an “‘80s horror take on Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” It’s also described as “a rad f-cking film” and a “blast” to watch.
The final installment of the trilogy takes place six years after the events of X, with a now Hollywood-based Maxine trying to achieve her dreams and make herself a legitimate movie star.
In the film, “As a mysterious killer stalks the starlets of Hollywood, a trail of blood threatens to reveal her sinister past.” The killer that is pursuing Maxxine is the Night Stalker.
The cast includes Halsey, Elizabeth Debicki, Kevin Bacon, Giancarlo Esposito, Michelle Monaghan, Sophie Thatcher, and Bobby Canavale.
The film will be released in theaters on July 5, 2024. Read through the reactions below and let us know if you’re excited about watching this movie!
MAXXXINE rules. My favorite entry in the XXX trilogy. A glorious, epic salute to the history of cinematic LA sleaze in all of its forms, like an '80s horror take on ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. A few of the loudest pops I've heard from a theater audience in a while. pic.twitter.com/gJsEljs1oe

Ti West's #Maxxxine is a firecracker of a film, featuring an explosive Mia Goth performance that ranks among my favorite of any performance this year. It's set in the '80s, but more importantly it FEELS like an '80s horror movie. Great cast. So well done. Loved every second of it pic.twitter.com/rzY35e7UU6

Y’all know how much I love 80’s b-movies. “Maxxxine” pays homage to those films I love so much. What a rad fucking film! @a24 @vistahollywood
With #MaXXXine, Ti West’s trilogy becomes one of my absolute favorites out there.

Because I know many are bound to ask — I can’t rank X, Pearl and MaXXXine for you because I love them all, and they’re all so distinct. There’s no doubt I’ll be most in the mood for one on one day… pic.twitter.com/jJ0EPRiqED
Just like the first two films, MaXXXine is oozing with reverence and enthusiasm for cinema, and the evolution of it. The assured quality of West’s filmmaking continues to wow me.

Mia Goth also continues to deliver exquisite work. It doesn’t take long for her to take your breath… pic.twitter.com/ONFtrBt7nw
#MaXXXine is a BLAST! Mia Goth is powerhouse perfection. Kevin Bacon in sleazeball mode (seersucker suit & gold grin). Leans full tilt into De Palma & Friedkin inspos, paying homage to slashers & video nasties. Houses the best use of “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man In Motion)” @maxxxinemov pic.twitter.com/arDLecOrwN

MAXXXINE is a retro-cool & entertaining time at the movies. Blending 80s-stylized horror with noir, Ti West & Mia Goth add more layers to the character Maxine Minx and ensure a strong thematic resonance across this, Pearl and X. Goth, in particular, is a force of swagger making… pic.twitter.com/R8UPPtkU5j

I have seen Ti West's Maxxxine and not sure how much I want to say before I've had a chance to write my review, but it's an impressive feat to make a trilogy where every single movie is so different from the last. Mia Goth is fantastic, but lots of other fun performances, too.
