First Official Photo From Marvel's INHUMANS Features Black Bolt and the Royal Family

Marvel has released an official photo from their upcoming new series Inhumans. The image give us our first look at the Royal Family, which consists of Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. They all look great in their roles!

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

I'm excited to see how this series turns out because of how ambitious and epic we've heard it's going to be. During an interview with EW, Showrunner Scott Buck (Dexter, Iron Fist) talks about the series and the way they are approaching the story explaining, “We approach these [characters] all as real people who just happen to have these abilities, so they’re all very grounded.” He goes on to say that one of the biggest challenges of developing the series was writing for Black Bolt because he's the hero of the story, but he doesn't speak. Why doesn't he speak? Because his voice has a devastatingly destructive power.

“It’s a little bit difficult to write him, because Black Bolt does not speak, but yet he is our hero and the center of the show, so it does certainly present challenges in how you tell his story.”

When talking about the villain of the story Maximus, Buck says:

“We didn’t want to create just a simple villain who’s evil for the sake of being evil. Our Maximus is a different, more complicated, more real, and more compelling version.”

Buck confirms that the series will take place on both Earth and Attilan and that it does take place in the same universe as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. There are events in S.H.I.E.L.D. that will potentially affect what is happening in Inhumans, but as of right now there are no plans for a crossover. He also says that Lockjaw is probably going to end up being the audience’s favorite character. You can read the lengthy interview here.

Feature director Roel Reine (Death Race 2, The Marine 2, The Lost Tribe, The Scorpion King 3) is set to helm the first two episodes of the series, which will be shot in IMAX and premiere in IMAX theaters on Labor Day weekend. The series will then start its eight episode run on ABC on Tuesday, September 26th, 2017. All eight episodes are expected to run on the network over consecutive Tuesdays, which means that the finale will air on Tuesday, November 14th, 2017.
