First Official Photos Released For CHARLIE'S ANGELS with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska
Thanks to EW, we have our first official look at director Elizabeth Banks’ upcoming reboot of Charlie’s Angels. This include photos featuring the main cast of Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. As you’ll see they are sporting different outfits and the movie looks like it will have vibrant tone.
Stewart is taking on the role of Sabina Wilson, “the hard-partying, highly skilled wild card”; Balinska is playing Jane Kano, ”the ex-MI6 muscle of the group”; and Scott will play Elena Houghlin, “the MIT-trained scientist who, Banks says, serves as the ‘heart of the movie.’”
When talking about these character in the film and what she was looking to accomplish, Banks explained that she wanted to showcase the teamwork of the characters:
“It was important to me to make a movie about women working together and supporting each other, and not make a movie about their romantic entanglements or their mother they don’t call enough. When I’m at work, I don’t talk about those things. I get on with my job. It felt important to do that for the Angels, to treat them with the respect their skill set demands.”
It is revealed that one of the major inspirations for this movie was the Mission: Impossible franchise. They wanted to capture that same blend of “grit and humor.” Banks says:
“We talked a lot about [those movies]. Those films work best when the team is together, when Ving Rhames is in it, and Simon [Pegg] is in it, and Rebecca Ferguson. That sensibility really matters to me.”
Well, if this film ends up being as good as the Mission: Impossible movies… awesome! That would be great! Like every movie, I hope that this turns out to be good. We’ll just have to wait for that first trailer to be released before we see if the movie is going to be worth looking forward to seeing or not.
The movie also stars Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou who have been cast in the role of different Bosleys. Other cast members include Sam Claflin (Me Before You), Noah Centineo (The Fosters), Nat Faxon (The Way, Way Back), and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom, Snowfall).
As for the story, this is the synopsis that was previously released:
Since the original films, The Townsend Agency has grown considerably and gone global, providing security and intelligence services to a wide variety of private clients with offices and highly-trained teams worldwide. This film focuses on one of those teams.
Charlie’s Angels will be released on November 15th, 2019.
