First Photo of Jon Hamm as The Archangel Gabriel in Neil Gaiman's GOOD OMENS
Amazon Studios has revealed the first photo of Jon Hamm in the role of the Archangel Gabriel in their new original series Good Omens, which is based on the book by Neil Gaiman. As you can see, he's looking pretty sharp! When talking about taking on the role, Hamm said:
“I read ‘Good Omens’ almost twenty years ago. I thought it was one of the funniest, coolest books I’d ever read. It was also, obviously, unfilmable. Two months ago Neil sent me the scripts, and I knew I had to be in it.”
Neil Gaiman added:
“Gabriel is everything that Aziraphale isn’t: he’s tall, good-looking, charismatic and impeccably dressed. We were fortunate that Jon Hamm was available, given that he is already all of these things without even having to act. We were even more fortunate that he’s a fan of the books and a remarkable actor.”
We also have a statement from the costume designer talking about Gabriel's look:
“Gabriel is the leader of the angels, and the most stylish and impeccably dressed of all of them, so we chose an immaculately tailored suit that Jon Hamm wears to perfection, in light colours, along with lilac accessories to bring out Gabriel’s unnerving violet eyes.”
I love the look of the character and I'm excited about this series. The series also stars Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant as the demon Crowley. You can check out the first look at these characters here.
Good Omens tells the story of a Demon and an Angel right before the end of the world who don't want it to happen yet. Michael Sheen is taking on the role of the angel Aziraphale and David Tennant is playing the demon, Crowley in the six-part series which has already started filming. You can check out the first look at these characters here.
The six-part series adaptation is being produced by BBC and it will be released in 2019.
