First Photos from POINT BREAK Remake with Official Synopsis

Warner Bros. has released a couple of photos giving us our first look at their remake of Point Break. They feature actors Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey who are taking over the roles of Bodhi and Johnny Utah, respectively, previously played by Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.

Some footage of the film was recently screened at CinemaCon, and I saw a lot of mixed reactions on Twitter from people who saw it. Apparently the footage screened was crazy, extreme, and fun, but there were also descriptions saying that it looks dopey and that it takes itself too seriously.

I haven't seen any of the footage myself, but it doesn't sound like movie is going to hit with hardcore fans of the original film. I guess we're just going to have to wait and see how fans feel after some actual footage is released for the rest of us to see. It's just really hard for me to imagine anyone other that Reeves and Swayze as these two character.

Heres' the synopsis:

In Alcon Entertainment’s fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller “Point Break,” a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill seeking elite athletes, led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a string of staggering crimes that kill innocent people and send the world’s economy into a tailspin.
Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the callous architects of these inconceivable crimes.
The film is replete with the most daring athleticism ever seen in a motion picture. These action adventure feats are performed by extreme athletes representing the world’s best in class in big-wave surfing, wingsuit flying, sheer-face snowboarding, free rock climbing, and high-speed motorcycling.

Point Break hits theaters on December 25th, 2015. It also stars Teresa Palmer as the new Lori Petty and Ray Winstone as the new Gary Busey.
