First Poster for Christopher Nolan's New Film TENET and Teaser Trailer Description

Christopher Nolan is teasing his highly anticipated new film project called Tenet. A poster for the film has been released and it doesn’t offer any kind of details on the film. It just gives us the style of the title for the film.

We don’t really know anything about this movie, but we do know it will be “an action epic revolving around the world of international espionage.” We also know that it will star John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Michael Caine, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Debicki, Kenneth Branagh, Clemence Poesy, and Dimple Kapadia.

There was also a surprise teaser trailer for the film attached to screenings of Hobbs & Shaw, but that teaser doesn’t really offer much information either! Here’s a description of the teaser thanks to THR:

The roughly minute-long first look at Tenet opens on a bullet hole that’s punched through some glass. Behind the glass stands John David Washington’s character. The teaser slam cuts to the words, “Time has come for a new protagonist.” Washington’s character walks up to examine the glass. The camera tracks him as he moves to the side, revealing more cracks in the glass…The teaser then slam cuts to the words, “Time has come for a new kind of mission.” Then, it reenters on people dressed as swat team members, or perhaps members kind of special operative unit. Quick cuts of Washington in action flash, before the teaser holds on a shot of Washington, with an oxygen mask over his mouth as he slowly breathes. Beneath the trailer is a pulsing, almost wobbling score, with the bass particularly powerful.

I haven’t seen the trailer myself yet, but it certainly sounds like a Nolan-style teaser trailer! The filmmaker doesn’t like giving much away from his films. He keeps the details locked away to help preserve the moviegoing experience for the audiences, and I love that about Nolan! I love that he builds the mystery of his films before we see them. Nolan is the kind of guy that feels that the less you know about his movies, the better the experience will be for audiences.

Tenet is set to be released in theaters on July 17, 2020.
