First Trailer and Posters For HOUSE OF THE DRAGON Season 2 - "Fire to Fire. Blood for Blood"

The first teaser trialer and posters have been released for HBO’s House of the Dragon Season 2. The poster put the spotlight on Emma D'Arcy's Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen who is seen shedding a tear and Olivia Cooke's Lady Alicent Hightower who has a concerned look on her face. The trailer teases the epic and destructive war between the two characters, and as it says in the trailer, "There is no war so hateful to the gods as a war between kin."

The series is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood series, which is set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. Watch the trailer!

When previously talking about what fans can expect from Season 2, director Clare Kilner said: "There are eight wonderful episodes with so much happening in every episode. We have trouble, at times, bringing them down to one hour. (Showrunner) Ryan Condal's decision was to give it a good opening and a good ending, and they're jam-packed with emotional and visually exciting events."

When Season 2 was announced, Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, said: "We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Draon team has accomplished with season one. Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV. A huge thank you to George, Ryan, and Miguel for leading us on this journey. We couldn't be more excited to continue bringing to life the epic saga of House Targaryen with Season 2."

Here’s the synopsis from Season 1:

Centuries before the events of A Game of Thrones, House Targaryen—the only family of dragonlords to survive the Doom of Valyria—took up residence on Dragonstone. Fire & Blood begins their tale with the legendary Aegon the Conqueror, creator of the Iron Throne, and goes on to recount the generations of Targaryens who fought to hold that iconic seat, all the way up to the civil war that nearly tore their dynasty apart.

What really happened during the Dance of the Dragons? Why was it so deadly to visit Valyria after the Doom? What were Maegor the Cruel’s worst crimes? What was it like in Westeros when dragons ruled the skies? These are but a few of the questions answered in this essential chronicle, as related by a learned maester of the Citadel and featuring more than eighty all-new black-and-white illustrations by artist Doug Wheatley. Readers have glimpsed small parts of this narrative in such volumes as The World of Ice & Fire, but now, for the first time, the full tapestry of Targaryen history is revealed.

House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to premiere on HBO in Summer 2024. The series is co-created by Martin and Ryan Condal, who serves as co-showrunner with Miguel Sapochnik,
