First Reactions for THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE Are In and It Sounds Like It's Going to Be Fun!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie opens up this Wednesday, and fans can finally see their favorite nostalgic Nintendo game characters come to life on screen. The film stars Chris Pratt in the role of Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Keegan-Michael Key as Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Minions: The Rise of Gru).

Fans have been uncertain as to how this movie would turn out ever since the first trailer was released and everyone wondered about the choice made by Chris Pratt to use a voice closer to his own than what we’re used to hearing Mario sound like. Pratt has since defended his creative choice along with his onscreen brother, Charlie Day, and now we have the first reviews, giving us a lot of confidence that if nothing else, we will at least have fun at the theatre this week.

The overall vibe of the comments give the feeling that this movie is chock-full of Easter Eggs and a real love letter to the fans of the franchise. Check out some of the Tweets hitting the web ahead of The Super Mario Bros. release this Wednesday, April 5th, and let us know if you’ll be heading to the movies this week.
