First Sinisterly Silly Trailer for THE BANANA SPLITS Horror Movie

“Now the show can go on forever… and ever… and ever…!!"

The classic 1960s Hanna-Barbera kids program The Banana Splits has gotten a film adaptation, and it has appropriately been turned into a horror movie. Today we have the first trailer to share with you, and it came along with the caption, “The beloved children's show is back... with a vengeance, a horrible, bloody vengeance.”

The story follows “a boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?'“

The movie looks like it’ll be a silly but fun horror movie. I do like the concept of turning kid show characters like this in to vicious murderous killers.

The Banana Splits movie stars Dani Kind (Wyonna Earp) as Beth, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong (The Kindness of Strangers) as Harley, Romeo Carere as Austin, Steve Lund (Street Legal, Schitt’s Creek) as Mitch, and Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries, A Series of Unfortunate Events, War for the Planet of the Apes) as Rebecca.

The film was written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (Raven’s Home, My Super Psycho Sweet 16) and directed by Danishka Esterhazy (Level 16).

The Banana Splits Movie is a direct-to-VOD/DVD that will be available this summer, then it will premiere on Syfy later this year.
