First Story Details For Universal's THE INVISIBLE MAN Revealed as Storm Reid is Cast in the Film

We’ve got some interesting new details to share with you regarding Universal Picture’s upcoming reboot of the classic film, The Invisible Man.

First, it was announced that that the young A Wrinkle In Time actress Storm Reid has been cast in the film. She will join the previously announced Elisabeth Moss. Deadline also reports that the new take on the classic story will center around a woman who begins to suspect that her deceased abusive ex-boyfriend might still be around stalking her. Here are the plot details that were shared:

The Leigh Whannell-directed movie follows Cecilia (Moss), who receives the news of her abusive ex-boyfriend’s suicide. She begins to re-build her life for the better, but her sense of reality is put into question when she begins to suspect her deceased lover is not actually dead.

Well that’s definitely an interesting and different take on the classic Universal Monster movie. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out. I still wish that these Universal Monster movies would be period pieces. Why is that not happening!?

As for Reid, she will take on the role of a character named Sydney. “With her mother gone, she’s picked up the maternal slack and is capable and mature for her age. She’s an outgoing lover of fashion who aspires to see the world, and she initially likes having Cecilia around as a role model, but grows mistrustful of her when strange things begin to happen around the house.”

When previously talking about the project, Moss explained what drew her to the project, saying:

“Part of the reason why I wanted to do it is I actually felt like it was a really feminist story of female empowerment and a victim kind of overcoming something. I don’t even know what I’m allowed to say about it! I’m not The Invisible Man, but there is an Invisible Man — if that makes any sense.”

Yep, it makes perfect sense now. What do you all think about the story for the new film and how it will deal with a woman who was in a toxic relationship and is now being stalked by her dead boyfriend, who is actually just really invisible?
