First Trailer for 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE Unleashes a Chilling New Chapter
Sony Pictures has released the first official trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and it looks like fans of the franchise are in for another intense ride. I loved 28 Years Later, and it seem like this sequel leans into the madness.
Shot back-to-back with 28 Years Later earlier this year, the sequel is directed by Nia DaCosta from a screenplay by Alex Garland, and the footage teases a dark and twisted continuation of the story, where the line between survival and savagery has blurred.
The trailer sets the tone for a chapter where humanity itself becomes the real nightmare. The sequel brings back 28 Years Later’s harrowing world, but this time the infected aren’t the greatest danger.
Instead, the brutality of survivors pushes the horror to disturbing new heights. Ralph Fiennes takes center stage as Dr. Kelson, a man caught in a shocking new relationship that could reshape everything.
Meanwhile, Spike, played by Alfie Williams, can’t escape the nightmare set in motion by his run-in with Jimmy Crystal, played by Jack O'Connell. The trailer drips with dread, backed by a chilling voiceover teasing and escalation of fear and desperation.
DaCosta, known for Candyman, The Marvels, and this year’s Hedda, looks to bring her own edge and style to Garland’s world. The cast also includes Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis-Parry.
The film continues to expand on the universe first imagined by Boyle and Garland. If this trailer is any indication, The Bone Temple is set to deliver a terrifying exploration of what humanity becomes when survival is all that’s left.
The movie hits theaters January 16, 2026 and I can’t wait to watch and see how the story continues to unfold!
