First Trailer for CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE Unleashes an Epic Fantasy Adventure
Paramount Pictures has dropped the first trailer for Children of Blood and Bone, giving fans their first real look at what could become one of the biggest fantasy films of 2027.
Based on Tomi Adeyemi's bestselling novel, the movie throws audiences into the breathtaking world of Orïsha, where magic has been ripped away, an oppressive kingdom rules with fear, and one young woman is willing to risk everything to bring hope back to her people.
If the trailer is any indication, director Gina Prince-Bythewood has crafted a massive fantasy spectacle packed with beautiful visuals, intense action, and an emotional story centered on identity, family, and fighting for what's right.
The film follows Zélie Adebola, played by Thuso Mbedu, a young maji whose people have been stripped of the magic the gods once blessed them with. Living under the brutal rule of the kosidáns, Zélie sets out on a dangerous journey to restore what was stolen.
Alongside her brother, she forms an unlikely alliance with the king's daughter and son as they challenge the kingdom's ruthless regime and attempt to bring magic back to Orïsha.
The cast is loaded with italent. Alongside Mbedu, the film stars Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, with Idris Elba and Viola Davis.
Visually, Children of Blood and Bone looks stunning. The trailer offers sweeping landscapes, impressive creature and magic effects, and some exciting action sequences.
Prince-Bythewood directs the film from a screenplay she co-wrote with Tomi Adeyemi, adapting Adeyemi's bestselling novel for the big screen. The filmmaker previously directed Love & Basketball, The Secret Life of Bees, Beyond the Lights, Netflix's The Old Guard, and The Woman King.
Between the scale of the world, the emotional stakes, and the fantasy action on display, Children of Blood and Bone looks like it has all the ingredients for a solid cinematic adventure.
Paramount Pictures will release Children of Blood and Bone in theaters on January 15, 2027.
