First Trailer for Disney’s HEXED Unleashes a Magical Adventure
Disney has released the first trailer for Hexed, the latest animated fantasy adventure from Walt Disney Animation Studios, and it looks like it could be another fun addition to the studio’s lineup.
Packed with magic, mystery, and an imaginative new world, the film gives off the kind of energy that fans of Harry Potter and Doctor Strange will recognize, while still carving out its own unique identity.
The story follows Billie, a teenage girl voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, who discovers that she possesses hidden magical abilities. What begins as an ordinary life in suburbia quickly spirals into something far more extraordinary when those powers are accidentally unleashed.
According to Disney, the film “introduces the impulsive and unconventional teenage girl Billie and her cautious mother Alice (voiced by Rashida Jones).
“When Billie accidentally unleashes secret magical abilities, she’s hurtled out of suburbia and into a magical realm called Hexe, where she’s greeted by Ms. Quill (voiced by Tracey Ullman) and Elias Quire (voiced by Stephen Fry).
“As Billie’s spectacle-filled journey unfolds, she discovers family mysteries that could change the magical world of witches forever.”
The movie promises a fantasy adventure filled with magical creatures, strange new worlds, and plenty of surprises. The footage teases an imaginative realm called Hexe that looks packed with colorful spellcraft and larger-than-life characters. It feels like the kind of world audiences will want to spend time exploring.
The film comes from directors Fawn Veerasunthorn and Jason Hand, with co-director Josie Trinidad helping bring the story to life. Veerasunthorn shared some insight into Billie’s journey, saying:
“A wonderfully strange phenomenon is happening all around Billie, something she can’t explain. She’s someone who has felt miscast in her own life, and it takes leaving her normal world behind and entering a hidden world of wild, unhinged magic to begin to understand herself.”
Hand also spoke about what awaits Billie once she enters Hexe: “Hexe is a place where Billie begins to feel seen for the first time in her life. he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that reveals a powerful connection to magic, and in the process uncovers long-held secrets about her family.”
Produced by Roy Conli and Yvette Merino, Hexed will mark Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 65th animated feature. Based on this first trailer, the movie looks like it’s aiming to deliver a heartfelt coming-of-age story wrapped inside a visually inventive fantasy adventure.
Whether you're drawn in by the magical world-building, the mystery surrounding Billie’s family, or the promise of an epic witch-filled adventure, Hexed certainly looks like one to keep an eye on.
Hexed arrives exclusively in U.S. theaters on November 25, 2026.
