First Trailer for James Gunn's BRIGHTBURN Shows Us a Superman-Inspired Horror Film
The first trailer has been released for the James Gunn-produced film Brightburn, and it is going to tell an interesting story. It’s basically a Superman-inspired horror story, which centers on an alien child crash-landing on earth, and instead of becoming a hero, he becomes a terrifying murderous villain!
This first trailer certainly sparked my interest, and it looks like it could be a great flick! I really like the concept behind it. Here’s the synopsis:
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister? With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
Gunn was hyping the film up before Comic-Con where he was supposed to premiere the trailer, but then after some old offensive tweets surfaced, shit hit the fan and he was fired by Disney from directing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and the panel was cancelled.
Brightburn stars Elizabeth Banks, Meredith Hanger, David Denman, Matt Jones, Gregory Alan Williams, Jennifer Holland and more.
The film will be directed by frequent Gunn collaborator David Yarovesky from a script written by Brian and Mark Gunn.
Brightburn hits theaters on May 24, 2019.
