First Trailer for MINX Season 2 - "Getting Bigger. Going Harder."
Starz has released the first trailer for the second season of Minx, which was previously canceled by HBO. After it was canceled, Starz jumped in to save the show, the second season of which was already completed.
The series is set in 1970s Los Angeles, and the story “follows Joyce (Ophelia Lovibond) — a young feminist activist looking to launch a women’s magazine. When she can’t find anyone to publish her idea as is, she ends up teaming with a low-rent pornographic magazine publisher Doug (Jake Johnson) to create the first erotic magazine for women. But when their creation Minx launches, it proves a lightning rod of controversy as protestors aim to shut it down.”
In Season 2, “After Doug and Joyce sell Bottom Dollar to a retired shipping magnate, Minx becomes a commercial success. Under new leadership, Doug struggles to maintain his control within Bottom Dollar while Joyce loses sight of her core beliefs as she rises to stardom. As our Bottom Dollar misfits go mainstream, they start to question who they’re becoming and what they really want from this newfound success.”
The first season was well-received by critics and audiences, and it was a surprise when HBO canceled it. But, what’s HBO”s loss is Starz’s gain.
The series also stars Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano, and Oscar Montoya. Minx Season 2 premieres on STARZ on July 21st.
