First Trailer For MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY'S FLASH: THE WITCH OF CIRCE

The Mobile Suit Gundam universe isn’t slowing down anytime soon. While Gundam GQuuuuuuX closed the out one storyline, the franchise quickly shifted gears by unveiling the first trailer for its next big project: Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway’s Flash: The Witch of Circe.

This new entry picks up where the 2021 film left off, continuing the saga of Hathaway Noah in a world where Zeon actually won the war. With no word on creator Hideaki Anno’s return, the spotlight now turns to returning director Murase Shukou, who’s stepping back in to helm the sequel.

The original Hathaway’s Flash marked a return to the Universal Century timeline and gave fans a spiritual successor to Amuro and Char through the eyes of Hathaway.

The story was always planned as a trilogy, and The Witch of Circe seems poised to explore the fallout of its predecessor’s political upheaval and moral ambiguity. Voice actor Ono Kensho returns in the lead role, joined again by Reina Ueda, Junichi Suwabe, and Soma Saito.

While the trailer keeps its plot close to the chest, it confirms the film’s Japanese theatrical release will arrive later this year. No North American date yet, but it’s a safe bet it won’t be far behind.

For those wanting a head start on what’s coming, the Hathaway’s Flash storyline originally debuted as a light novel written by Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino back in 1989, meaning longtime fans already know the darker, more introspective direction this story can take.

With Gundam’s growing global footprint, including the long-gestating live-action film from Legendary Pictures, The Witch of Circe is another step in Gundam’s evolution as a cross-media giant.
