First Trailer for Netflix's RATCHED Based on the Nurse in ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST

Netflix has released the first trailer for Ryan Murphey’s upcoming series Ratched. The series will give us the origin story for the Nurse Ratched, who was introduced in the classic 1975 Jack Nicolson film One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. This is one of the greatest villains in film history, and the younger version of the character will be played by Sarah Paulson.

As you’ll see, the series has got Ryan Murphy's style all over it. It’s not necessarily how I envisioned the character’s past and origin; this is going to take it to an over-the-top level. What I loved about the original character were her little evil subtleties. It looks like this series is going to a little more over-the-top, but it looks like fun, and I’ll definitely be watching it!

The story follows the young nurse in 1946 who is seeking employment “at a Northern California psychiatric hospital where disturbing experiments on the human mind are conducted.” It will follow Ratched’s “journey and evolution from nurse to full-fledged monster. The series will track her murderous progression through the mental health care system.”

The series also stars Sharon Stone as a fabulous eccentric heiress named Lenore Osgood. Other characters include Dr. Hanover (Jon Jon Briones), a physician who is conducting these controversial experiments; Nurse Bucket (Judy Davis), who is a the strict nurse; Edmund Tolleson (Finn Wittrock), a mass murderer; hospital staff members Dolly (Alice Englert) and Huck (Charlie Carver); Charles Wainwright (Corey Stoll) a private investigator; Louise (Amanda Plummer), a motel manager; Governor George Wilburn (Vincent D’Onofrio), a sleazy politician; and his campaign manager, Gwendolyn Briggs (Cynthia Nixon).

The show is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18th. Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think.
