First Trailer For Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' WWII Series MASTERS OF THE AIR

Apple has released the first trailer for Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ incredible-looking World War II drama series Masters of the Air. The series focuses on the airmen of the war who risked their lives with the 100th Bomb Group, a brotherhood forged by courage, loss, and triumph.

The series is based on the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, and it follows the true story of the “American bomber boys in World War II who brought the war to Hitler’s doorstep.”

Spielberg, Hanks, and Gary Goetzman are the same producing team that brought us Band of Brothers and The Pacific, both of which were incredibly well-made shows. They are two of my favorite WWII war dramas and I’ve been excited about this Masters of the Air series, it looks like a great and harrowing series!

Goetzman talked about the series saying: “Masters of the Air is a salute to the brave men of the 8th Air Force, who, through their courage and brotherhood, helped defeat Nazi Germany in World War II. Tom and Steven have always wanted to visualize cinematically what our author Don Miller has called, this ‘singular event in the history of warfare.’ We’re thrilled that Apple TV+ has given us the opportunity to combine the efforts of so many talented people, on-screen and behind the camera, to tell this important story.”

Austin Butler stars in the series as Major Gale Cleven alongside Barry Keoghan as Lt. Curtis Biddick and Callum Turner as Major John Egan. The large ensemble cast also features Anthony Boyle as Major Harry Crosby, Nate Mann as Major Robert Rosenthal, and Raff Law as Sgt. Ken Lemmons.

Written by John Orloff, Masters of the Air is produced by Apple Studios, Hanks and Goetzman’s Playtone, and Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Executive producer Cary Joji Fukunaga directed multiple episodes, along with Dee Rees and the duo of Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.

The show is set to debut its first two episodes on the streaming platform on Friday, January 26th, 2024, followed by one new episode every Friday through March 15, 2024.
