Fun First Trailer For THE OFFICE Universe Follow-Up Series THE PAPER

If you've been craving more The Office-style chaos and cringe comedy, Peacock is delivering with the upcoming mockumentary series The Paper.

Created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, The Paper lives in the same universe as The Office and follows the same documentary crew that once captured the antics of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch. Now, they’ve found a new dysfunctional workplace to film: a struggling local newspaper in Toledo, Ohio called The Truth Teller.

The series stars Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, the newly hired editor-in-chief trying to breathe life back into the nearly defunct publication. Unfortunately for Ned, he quickly learns his newsroom is hilariously underqualified.

During one staff meeting, it's revealed that the team’s journalism experience includes writing a junior high term paper, posting on Twitter, and being active in a group chat. And yet, Ned somehow doesn’t walk out the door immediately.

Adding a dose of nostalgic delight, Oscar Nuñez returns as The Office fan-favorite Oscar Martinez. In the trailer, Oscar begrudgingly reconnects with the ever-intrusive documentary crew and it’s clear he hasn’t missed them one bit. Things get awkward fast, which longtime fans will eat up.

Joining Gleeson and Nuñez is a fresh ensemble of oddball characters portrayed by Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Alex Edelman, Ramona Young, Tim Key, Duane Shepard Sr., and Eric Rahill.

This series looks like it will be a lot of fun! Based on this footage, fans will undoubtedly start trying to match each new character with their Office counterparts.

The producing team includes Daniels, Koman, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant — the original creators of the British The Office — along with Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. Universal Television is producing.

Check out the trailer and get ready to dive back into the absurdity of the 9-to-5 grind, this time with less toner and more typos.

The series will premire on September 4, and it will debut with four episodes, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through September 25.
