First Trailer for the ROBERT THE BRUCE Film With BRAVEHEART Actor Angus Macfadyen Reprising The Role
If you’re a fan of Mel Gibson’s Braveheart, I’ve got the first trailer here for you to watch for a movie that you’re going to want to see. It’s a historical action drama based on the Scottish warrior Robert the Bruce, it’s called Robert the Bruce, and Braveheart star Angus Macfadyen reprises his role from Braveheart.
The movie looks pretty good, and the story “explores the lost months during a long, harsh winter when Robert, injured and pursued across the Highlands by his enemies, takes shelter with the steely Morag and her fearless children. Restored to health and spurred on by this humble family’s resilience and courage, Bruce finally finds the resolve to rally his people and lead his country to hard-fought independence.” This is the synopsis that was released:
Scotland 1306, Robert the Bruce (Angus Macfadyen) crowns himself King and takes the ambition of Scotland’s freedom as his own. But he cannot overcome England’s power: defeated again and again, his army is scattered and Scotland’s nobility abandons him. Hunted, with a price on his head, he finds himself alone and wounded. The cause of freedom seems lost once more. Hidden secretly in a secluded croft of a clan pledged to England, and close to death Robert is nursed back to life by a young widow and her orphaned children. His determination to do what is right, regardless of the cost, reinvigorates his passion to rise again. But it’s not revenge he desires. It’s freedom.
The movie comes from director Richard Gray (Mine Games, Blinder, The Lookalike, Broken Ghost), and it also stars Jared Harris (The Crown) as Robert the Bruce’s nemesis John Comyn, alongside Anna Hutchison (The Cabin In The Woods), Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl), Zach McGowan (Black Sails), Gabriel Bateman (American Gothic), Talitha Eliana-Bateman (Geostorm), Emma Kenney (Roseanne), and Kevin McNally (Pirates Of The Caribbean).
There’s no U.S. release date yet, but it will be released in the UK on June 28th.
