First Trailer for VICIOUS Unleashes Dakota Fanning in a Twisted Horror Tale
Paramount+ just dropped the first official trailer for Vicious, the latest horror nightmare from Bryan Bertino, the filmmaker behind The Strangers. The movie is set to make its world premiere at Fantastic Fest 2025 later this month before streaming on Paramount+ starting October 10, perfectly timed for horror season.
The film follows Dakota Fanning as Polly, who receives a mysterious box from a late-night visitor played by the always eerie Kathryn Hunter.
The box comes with chillingly simple instructions: place inside something you need, something you hate, and something you love. From there, Polly is pulled into a terrifying spiral where reality twists, memories betray her, and survival comes down to impossible choices.
The official synopsis reads: “When Polly (Dakota Fanning) receives a mysterious Box from an unexpected late-night visitor (Kathryn Hunter), it comes with a simple instruction: place three things inside: something you need, something you hate, and something you love.
“What begins as a strange ritual quickly unravels into a waking nightmare. Trapped in a terrifying world where reality bends and memory betrays, Polly must navigate a series of impossible choices.
“As time slips away, she's forced to confront the darkness not just around her, but also within her—before it consumes everything and everyone she’s ever known.”
Alongside Fanning and Hunter, the cast includes Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, Devyn Nekoda, Klea Scott, and Emily Mitchell. Judging from the trailer, it looks like Hunter’s character might also be a victim of whatever evil is lurking within the box. The setup promises a sinister supernatural force that manipulates people into giving it exactly what it craves.
Bertino seems to be crafting another claustrophobic and unnerving descent into horror. The film is produced by Richard Suckle.
This trailer teases a twisted concept that blends supernatural dread with psychological torment, and it looks like a perfect October watch for horror fans.
