First U.S. ATTACK ON TITAN Trailer with English Subtitles
A couple of weeks ago it was announced that the live-action Attack in Titan films would be released in the U.S. by FUNimation. We have the first domestic trailer for the first film, which includes English subtitles, so now us non-Japanese fans know what they are saying! There’s also some new footage for us to enjoy.
Attack on Titan Part 1 premiered in the U.S. at the Egyptian Theater in Hollywood earlier this week. From what I’ve heard it’s pretty freakin’ amazing and is a film that fans of the anime will have a blast watching.
Based on the popular manga series of the same name, Attack on Titan takes place in a world where the remnants of humanity live inside a series of connected cities, isolated by enormous walls. These walls exists to keep the Titans out, gigantic humanoid creatures who devour humans seemingly without reason. These Titans have reduced the world’s population to staggeringly low numbers. The three main protagonists of Isayama’s manga are Eren Jaeger, his adoptive sister Mikasa Ackerman, and their friend Armin Arlert. Their lives are changed forever when a ‘Colossal Titan’ breaches the wall protecting their town, leading to the death of Eren’s mother. Vowing revenge and to reclaim the world from the Titans, Eren, Mikasa and Armin join the Survey Corps, an elite group of soldiers who fight Titans outside the walls.
The film will be released in Japan in two parts by Toho on August 1st and September 19th, 2015. There’s no word on when it will be released in the U.S. yet, but hopefully it’s around the same time as the Japanese release. I can’t wait to watch this movie!
