New WONDER MAN Trailer Teases Simon Williams’ Secret Powers and Hollywood Dreams

Marvel a new look at Wonder Man, and it gives us a peek into a very different kind of superhero story. Marvel Television dropped a new clip for the upcoming Disney+ series, which centers on Simon Williams, a struggling actor chasing stardom while keeping one very powerful secret.

In the footage, Simon is desperate to land the lead role in a Wonder Man movie, all while hiding the fact that he actually is Wonder Man. It’s a clever setup that blurs the line between fiction and reality, and it’s the kind of Hollywood meta-narrative that feels both hilarious and tragic at the same time.

For longtime comic readers, Simon Williams’ history is complicated. In Marvel Comics, he’s transformed into an ion-powered superhuman by Baron Zemo after agreeing to infiltrate The Avengers. How he gains his powers in the MCU version remains a mystery for now, but clearly, his abilities will play a big part in the series.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who takes on the role of Simon, previously said: “What is Simon's power? I think Simon is, well, trying to figure out what his powers are, you know. Simon has a superpower. Simon would say his superpower is his craft, and we get to see how well he manages that.”

That gives fans an idea of what kind of story Marvel is telling here, which is one about identity, ambition, and performance, wrapped inside a superhero tale.

In Wonder Man, Simon’s acting career isn’t exactly thriving. But when he crosses paths with Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), the washed-up actor from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, he discovers that legendary filmmaker Von Kovak is remaking the classic superhero film Wonder Man.

The two actors, one past his prime, the other just getting started, go all in on chasing roles that could change their lives forever.

Wonder Man brings together a strong creative team. The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, who also serve as executive producers alongside Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, and Brad Winderbaum.

With its Hollywood satire, layered storytelling, and a lead who literally embodies the idea of a “star in the making,” Wonder Man looks like one of Marvel’s most original and self-aware projects yet.

Wonder Man premieres on Disney+ on January 26, 2026.
